Considering a Reiki Class?
Having trained probably a thousand or more Reiki students over the past 22 years, I have found two common denominators in a majority of people who decide to join a class: 1.They feel drawn to express their inner desire to heal and help others. 2. They desire healing for themselves. Thankfully, Reiki fulfills each and includes both. Check out the beautiful Reiki testimonials below.
For some, the spirituality of Reiki is of first importance, a way to expand their mystical relationship. For others, it is the practical application of Reiki that appeals to them. Reiki can be used to enhance existing training, such as massage, physical therapy, yoga, nursing, animal care – even psychological therapy. Yet by no means is Reiki’s positive influence limited to these purposes. It doesn’t matter what your background is or how old you are, Reiki will enrich you, your workplace, your family and all your interactions. We all long to improve our life in some manner. Reiki satisfies that longing for a better existence in a big way. Call it life changing? Call it life enhancing? Yes, it is.
If you have experienced a Reiki treatment for yourself, you understand the impact of being nurtured and held in the peaceful, loving flow of Reiki energy. You know firsthand how you feel better in many ways during and after a treatment. Hopefully, in noticing the positive effects of Reiki, you understand how crucial it is to pay attention to your own self-healing. The idea of healing the self is emphasized in Reiki. One’s capacity for love flows outward. If there is not enough inner love, the sharing of love is not fully flowing. Taking care of yourself is the highest form of self-respect. That is why using Reiki for yourself is essential and why it is the main principal of Reiki. Use Reiki for yourself. Everything else evolves from there.
The elemental nature of Reiki is loving, creative and all embracing. In Reiki energy, the possibilities of healing in the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects are wide open and available. Each Being is witnessed in their totality and guided toward the most natural state of equilibrium possible. Sounds wonderful, right?
One of the most common comments I receive from Reiki trained people is this: “I no longer feel helpless, I can do Reiki and know I contributed good.” If you want to add that empowerment to your life, for yourself and others, consider Reiki. Reiki, A Journey of Love
I can’t believe it has only been a little over a year since I began to learn the Reiki way of life. That’s exactly what it is for me, a way of life. Reiki is love in all that we do. It lies in the truest essence of our thoughts, actions, intentions, and beings. Before I began to study Reiki, I was unable to stop and enjoy the beauty of each present moment. I was constantly caught up with expectations and self-criticism…Simply becoming more aware of energy has given me the knowledge and tools to dig deep within myself to discover that I am part of this beautiful universe and the more tools we have, the more we can develop into conscious beings. Reiki is a sacred treasure that everyone deserves. The feeling of divine love and light is incomparable. Reiki has allowed me to feel empowered yet humble, to feel unity yet independence. Reiki gives us the power to heal things that can limit or hinder ourselves or others. Essentially everything that craved in my life, the Reiki path has either presented to me or led me to the door I need to unlock…I am eternally grateful for the gift of Reiki passed down to me through the sacred lineage and will carry the love and energy of Reiki always in my soul.
My Reiki Journey
It is said that a journey of a million miles begins with a single step. Reiki has been my first step in a never ending journey that my soul has begun. I was curious about it long before I took my first class just over two years ago. I went in with no preconceived notions and no real plan at going any further unless I felt guided to do so from deep within – and I was. Reiki has been a gift to me in so many ways. I find it has stripped me of my helplessness. I can remember times where I felt that I wanted to contribute or help someone with a situation and felt powerless to do so. The feeling of being powerless would bring an anxiety, worry and fear. Now I have this wonderful technique that I can call upon in those times. I can allow myself to be that conduit and set the intention for the energy to be sent through me as a contribution to the greater good. It’s allowed me to handle daily life in a better way…..I feel more calm and peaceful at my core. Things that bother me don’t seem to bother me now. I feel more faithful and aligned with positive purpose, no longer living from a place of fear. Being able to watch the real life, real time power of Reiki healing is witnessing a miracle.
My Relationship with Reiki!
Before Reiki I was always just getting by. I was filled with doubt and worry. I never thought about my spiritual life. I was only thinking of healing in terms of the physical body. Now, I am only thinking about spiritual solutions. I am so much more in touch with my intuition and when something doesn’t feel right to me, I trust it. I used to force myself to push through situations because I thought that I had to be tough on myself or I would stay stuck. I can see now that you have to be in the flow and it is supposed to be easy. We are supposed to feel good, and when we don’t feel good something needs adjusting. I am equally grateful for the times when I feel good and when I don’t feel good because they both teach me more about myself.
Reiki really helped me get through one of the hardest times in my life. Reiki helped me process my emotions and release them. I felt as if I had this shield that was protecting me and keeping me safe from going down a dark path. When I would start to get attacks of anxiety I would put my hand on my chest and the anxiety would be gone in less than 5 minutes.
I now feel a strong connection with myself and everything around me. I can feel that we all come from the same source and are made of up light. I always knew this, but now I feel connected to it.
I finally feel like I have something more than a sympathetic ear to offer someone. I can make a difference in my life and other people’s lives. I have a power and a strength that has been awakened. Reiki is like a special superpower that is always protecting and guiding me.
Reiki has brought me more peace than I have ever known. I can’t imagine my life without it. ~Angie R. Reiki Master Practitioner
Here’s some BENEFITS OF REIKI TRAINING as expressed in Gaia Magazine
1. Attunement Process with the Universe
Reiki connects you to universal energy, thereby allowing you access to healing for yourself whenever you might need it. Plus, being plugged into the Universe means you can balance your body, mind, and spirit by spending some time each day devoted to self-healing.
2. Connection to Your Spirituality
Reiki brings you closer to your Higher Self, which is an essential part of anyone’s spirituality. The perks of being more in tune with your High Self include being more intuitive, helping you make better decisions and giving an overall feeling of wholeness as if a missing piece of your life’s puzzle has fallen into place.
3. Deep Relaxation
Happier people live longer. It’s a fact. Lowering the stress in your life is essential to keeping illnesses and ailments at bay from your body. Reiki is an excellent tool for keeping your heart and mind calm and connected to an inner peace that will be an asset in troubled times. You will gain a sense of real self-purpose and inner clarity that may have eluded you previously.
4. Health Benefits of the Body
We put natural wear and tear on our bodies on a daily basis, whether through exercise or simply walking around the office. Between that and the toxins in our environment, our bodies are in desperate need of healing. Self-healing on a physical level helps prevent sickness, whether it’s one you’ve already had or one that you may have, and aids our injuries in healing fully. There is a plethora of ailments that Reiki helps soothe, from mild back pain to even cancer, according to Reiki experts.
5. Direction for Your Life
Once again, you are more plugged into the Universe through the practice of Reiki. Therefore, you will be much closer to finding your true purpose and calling through learning Reiki, as you become reconnected with the Divine in your life. Let your mind be opened up through practicing Reiki, thus freeing up yourself and your spirit.
6. Giving Back
Ever felt like helping people, but you were totally unsure of how to go about this? Reiki extends to more than yourself in its healing. This is a gift that many would count as invaluable in their lives. Imagine helping people be free of injuries that have plagued them for years, or giving them a sense of inner peace! Giving back like this is truly its own reward.
Reiki has the potential to turn your whole life around for the better if you self-Reiki every day and listen to your intuition. Life becomes a whole lot more clear, and you begin to understand what’s actually important in your life, and what is excess and unnecessary. Even things in your life like your relationships come into focus. Who is actually your friend? Who is just there for an easy ride? You’ll find out quickly when you start trying something “weird” like Reiki!
8. Emotional Healing
We all carry some kind of emotional trauma in our lives. No one’s life has been perfect. While we all accept that, we don’t all realize that we also carry the energy from these negative experiences. This trauma may be affecting us entirely, in our bodies, our hearts, and our spiritualities. Reiki can free us by helping us release the energy attached to the hardships of our past. Once this has been achieved, you are finally free to be yourself.
Reiki can change the way you deal with life and people in a way that is much healthier for you. It might not happen in a conscious manner, but it’ll quickly become apparent that when someone tries to take advantage of you. For example, you will push back, defend yourself, and demand more respect. Reiki helps you love yourself so that you can learn to love others and ask others to love you, as well.
10. “The Art of Inviting Happiness”
The founder of Reiki, Dr. Mikao Usui, described Reiki as the “art of inviting happiness.” Doesn’t that sound like something everyone could use in their lives? Often, people don’t know what happiness actually is, and seek material gains or the next promotion. But having a really, truly happy life goes far beyond that. Happiness comes from a profound understanding of the Universe and knowing your place there, which is exactly what Reiki sets out to do.
Is it Hard to Learn Reiki?
Just like anything new, learning a new modality or method of healing takes time and effort to study and learn the ins and outs of the philosophy. Luckily with Reiki, there are no special abilities needed as a prerequisite to learning the practice, the ability to use your energy for healing is latent in us all.
Why attend a certified in-person class instead of learning through a pre-recorded online course? (I’m not including “virtual” classes in this same category as with a virtual class you will have a teacher instructing and inspiring you throughout and is with you every step of the way. Virtual classes are an adjustment because of our current world situation: We presently offer virtual classroom Reiki One classes)
With the plethora of pre recorded online classes offered these days in all areas and subjects, it might seem a convenient, fast and perhaps cost efficient to take a Reiki class. I mourn the impersonal nature of taking a pre- recorded Reiki online course for these reasons: 1. The “learning” of Reiki is not in the technique but in the understanding of the nature of Reiki, the creativity of Reiki and all the possibilities offered in the sacred energy of giving and receiving Reiki. These aspects are not easily conveyed in written material or powerpoint presentations, but are part of dynamic conversation. 2. Reiki is an invitation to explore and be inspired in our healing path. Each individual benefits from a caring and personal interaction with a teacher who sees you as a unique seeker and honors that. 3. Being in a group of other students is truly an amazing experience. The stories, interactions, emotional contact and close bonds formed are priceless. You have opportunities to express yourself, ask questions and be part of the energetic exchange . 4. An “attunement” is an essential segment of the Reiki healing method and you can’t really be said to be giving Reiki without it. The attunement is meant to be an initiation, a connector and igniter of the flow of Reiki Energy. It should also be a blessing and a healing. It is a very sacred part of what Reiki is. The ability to perform attunements is passed down from teacher to teacher in the lineage of the founder Dr. Usui. The attunement or initiation segment of Reiki is a sacred space for healing and connection and cannot be fully felt or appreciated without the presence of a teacher (one you can see and know). In an attunement your energy field, spiritual self and physical body are recognized, blessed and connected to the flow of Reiki. Personal attention is given to each individual and each soul honored. You are seen, felt and cared for. Because you, your fellow students and your teacher are all present in a safe and blessed space you will have a truly awesome spiritual experience. 5. In a classroom training, you see demonstrations of treatment options and how to apply Reiki for yourself and others (even animals!). You are able to immediately practice with others, receive guidance and feedback. This is tremendously valuable in cementing your confidence and just feels great. 6. You join a community of like minded people and have someplace to go for continuing support where you can grow and deepen. Your commitment and confidence in Reiki is encouraged when you have others and your teachers to turn to. I know people who have tried the online route and didn’t feel confident that they could really “do” Reiki or who to ask about things that come up afterward.
Note: You should always question your potential Reiki teachers as to their experience and qualifications. And as importantly, you should feel comfortable and confident that you are in the right place with the right people for you. Use your feelings when seeking a Reiki class…this is a spiritual journey and could be the most important journey you take. A journey of the heart, not the mind.
Check the calendar for the next class. We train in all levels of Usui (traditional) Reiki, including Teacher level.
